Tapestry Retreat Program
The Tapestry Retreat Program provides adults living with cancer to have time away in a safe and nurturing environment for the purpose of exploring the impact of their cancer experience. The Tapestry Retreat Program is a residential program presented over five days at a retreat and renewal centre outside of Calgary and is open to all adults living with cancer.
Many people who are dealing with cancer find that their bodies are being well taken care of, but emotional and spiritual needs also need attention. The program has been designed to incorporate a holistic approach to the well-being of an individual. The program includes group sessions, yoga and meditation, creative activities, massage and time away from everyday commitments in beautiful surroundings.
There are 6 retreats happening in 2013 and enrollment is now open.
- January 21-25, 2013 : General Population Individual retreat
- February 25-March 1, 2013 : Lung Cancer Retreat
- March 11-15, 2013 Breast Cancer couples retreat (Wings Of Hope)
- June 3-8, 2013: General population couples
- September 23-27, 2013 : General Population Individual Retreat
- November 25-29, 2013: Breast Cancer Individual Retreat
Tapestry Retreat is open to all people living with cancer (first priority is given to those with
metastatic disease and those who have been on the waiting list for more than six months). If you wish to attend the Tapestry Retreat, you need to submit an application form but first please leave a message for the Tapestry Retreat Coordinator at 403-998-8549 to discuss upcoming retreat dates and costs and to obtain more information about the program.
Fees:
The majority of the cost of providing the Tapestry Retreat Program is covered by grants from the Alberta Cancer foundation, various companies and individuals as well as in-kind support from Alberta Health Services. Applicants who have received or are receiving their cancer treatment in Alberta or the Northwest Territories are charged a token fee of commitment which currently stands at $150 per individual and $250 per couple. The fee can be waived under exceptional circumstances. Applicants from other jurisdictions are charged the full cost of the program which ranges from $2600 to $3500 with no exceptions possible. I understand that the retreat to be held in June of 2013 is primarily focused on breast cancer patients. Can you confirm this? This is not my diagnosis but we would very much like to attend a Tapestry Retreat.

Hi Ginger! I just updated the dates for the 2013 Retreats. It looks like the June retreat is for couples with any cancer diagnosis and September is for singles with any cancer diagnosis. The breast cancer retreat is not until November. Just give the coordinator a call (403-998-8549) and they can help you sign up!
